Ogunquit, Maine

In their assessment of adaptation strategies to protect Ogunquit’s sewage treatment plant from sea level rise and storm surge, the Ogunquit Sewer District considered the following alternatives:

  • Elevate existing plant
  • Enhance dune retention systems
  • Relocate the plant and infrastructure
  • Connect to neighboring facilities

The study concluded there is no viable option for the treatment plant to remain on its current site beyond 2052. The information from this study will be used to inform capital improvement plans.
