To better understand their risk from climate change, Greenwich focused on looking at the elevation of their existing buildings. Specifically, they:
- Compiled and updated elevation certificates for coastal buildings
- Analyzed 168 elevation certificates relative to FEMA’s base flood elevation (BFE), and found 107 structures in A or V Zones (80%) with lowest floor below BFE
- Reviewed zoning regulations to minimize public & private losses
- Provided data to emergency responders to target areas of vulnerability during storm events
